So, Easter is nearly upon us, and it’s time to think about stuffing our faces with chocolate. It’s also time to think about bringing a smile to the faces of children who need cheering up. So, with that in mind, Crawley Town and the Crawley Town Supporters Alliance are launching an appeal for your chocolate donations!
Following a proposal from Paul Prendergast, CTSA Vice Chair, we are egg-cited (sorry) to be launching an appeal for you to donate Easter Eggs to the club’s charity partner, Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice. The CTSA will be coordinating this appeal, and your Easter Eggs can be delivered directly to the club during office hours, to the CTSA cabin in the car park on matchdays, or to CTSA officials at away games. We will make sure that all donations are transported to Chestnut Tree before Easter Sunday.
So, when you’re helping the chicken cross the road into Tesco, Asda or Sainsbury (other supermarkets are available), think about bringing joy to sick children and their families this Easter and buy an extra egg to donate. You know it’s an egg-cellent idea, don’t you (sorry again)!
A reminder- your Easter Egg Donations can be:
- Delivered to Crawley Town reception during office hours
- Delivered to the CTSA cabin on matchdays
- Handed to a CTSA Official at away games
Chestnut Tree already has a thriving partnership with the football club. It is also the Crawley Town Supporters Alliance partner charity, and we will be looking at running joint events designed to raise money for the hospice and our football in the community projects. More about Chestnut Tree House
Chestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county.
Completed in 2003, the hospice provides a ‘home from home’ environment with 10 children’s bedrooms plus eight family rooms, a wet and dry play area, computer and music rooms, a multi sensory room and hydrotherapy pool. The house is set in beautiful gardens within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
There are potentially 400 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological support, care in bereavement therapy, end of life and respite care and sibling support.
The hospice costs £2.5 million per year to run. Families are never charged for their care and less than 9p in evey pound is funded by the government, so we rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.
